Due to the entry restrictions on all non-essential travel from third countries to the Federal Republic of Germany to contain COVID-19, the embassy is currently not accepting any new visa applications. An exception may be made if the applicant can demonstrate the existence of compelling reasons that justify entry under the current rules. You will be informed immediately by the embassy when this situation changes.
Use/Renewal of type D visas that have already been issued
The entry restrictions on all non-essential travel from third countries to the Federal Republic of Germany to contain COVID-19 may mean that you are not able to use a national visa issued by the embassy during its period of validity. As soon as entry is permitted again, we intend to renew the visas of all those affected as quickly and simply as possible. This fast-track procedure will be available if your date of travel has changed, but the purpose of your visit and destination remain unaltered. The embassy will inform you without delay of any steps to be taken once travel is permitted again.
Kuwaiti or non-EU nationals need a visa in order to enter Germany.
Holders of Kuwaiti diplomatic (red colour) and special passports (green colour) may travel to Germany without obtaining a visa prior to the trip if they hold new biometric, e-chip passports and if their stay does not exceed 90 days per half year (Schengen-Visa“).
The Visa Section of the German Embassy in Kuwait is processing over 60.000 visa applications a year from more than 190 nationalities.
To provide a fast and comfortable visa application process, the Visa Application Center of the German Embassy in Kuwait is operated by VFS Global
The type of visa you require depends on how long you plan to stay. Are you planning a short visit to Germany, e.g. for a holiday? Or would you like to stay longer, e.g. to attend university?
Please choose how long you are planning to stay.
